I'm a Sydney-based cinematographer and Steadicam operator with 15 years of experience across feature films, television, and commercials.

Before moving to Australia, I studied photography and specialised in it for a decade. Highlights from this period include a solo exhibition at The Finnish Museum of Photography with series Terrarium; receiving title Young Photojournalist of the Year; and winning grand prize at My RØDE Reel with short film Thin Ribbon. Fascinated by sound and rhythm as storytelling devices, I found my way into multimedia, video editing, and experimental filmmaking. My career in motion rocketed, with the first years full of dance films, documentaries, music videos, branded content, and TVCs.

With a background in painting and web design, I thrive at the intersection of creative and technical. I'm passionate about on-screen world-building, intricate lighting, and character-driven camera direction. My leadership is clear and empathetic. I'm an accredited member of Society of Camera Operators (SOC). I have created and develop software MIDIGrade.

My family name Koivistoinen means forest of birch trees. It is pronounced quivers + toy + [nen].
